Sean Kennedy

Sean Kennedy is Affiliated Faculty in Urban and Regional Planning at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Special Projects Analyst at California Strategic Growth Council. His international policy experience spans climate governance across public, private and nonprofit sectors.

Education includes:

• PhD in Urban Planning, UCLA
• Master of Urban and Regional Planning, UCLA
• Graduate Certificate in International Urban Management

Research examines energy transitions, land use conflicts, and climate finance in Southeast Asia and the US. Current projects analyze renewable energy land governance in Indonesia/Philippines and climate risk distribution in Indonesian adaptation policies.

Teaching covers international environmental governance, climate planning, and food systems. Student advising addresses sustainable development challenges across diverse geographical contexts.
