Sean Huberty

Sean Huberty serves as a Teaching Specialist in Construction Management at Michigan State University's School of Planning, Design and Construction. With 25 years of industry experience spanning Building Commissioning, HVAC, Building Automation Systems, and Solar PV, he previously held Lead Faculty and Professor roles at Lansing Community College across multiple technical programs including Construction Management and HVAC-R.

His research focuses on sustainable construction innovation, particularly Mass Timber Construction Education, Deconstruction and Material Reuse methodologies, and Digital Twin development within Building Information Modeling frameworks. He actively pursues technological decarbonization solutions for the construction industry through practical applications and academic instruction.

Huberty contributes to the NSF-ATE Center of Excellence BEST Center (Building Efficiency for a Sustainable Tomorrow) and has participated in multiple NSF-funded projects over two decades. His work bridges industry practice with academic training in energy-efficient building systems, safety management, and sustainable material reuse strategies.
