Sean Hottois is an Associate Professor of New Media at Indiana University South Bend (IU South Bend), affiliated with the Ernestine M. Raclin School of the Arts. He holds an MFA in Studio Art from Fort Hays State University and B.A./B.S. degrees from the Hite Art Institute at the University of Louisville. His work focuses on interactive experiences blending analog and digital techniques, exploring themes like technology’s role in human behavior through installations, sculptures, and web-based projects.
He has exhibited internationally, including in Abu Dhabi, Grand Rapids, and Chicago, and has received grants such as the Indiana Arts Commission’s Individual Artist Program (2016) and IU South Bend Faculty Research Grant (2013). Awards include recognition at Artprize 7 (Top 100) and 1st Prize at Arterie Fine Arts (2014). His interdisciplinary projects span wearable technology for theater performances, 3D-printed sculptures, and web design for venues like The Exchange Whiskey Bar. He has led workshops on 3D printing and participated in residencies such as Studios Midwest.
