Dr. Sean FitzGibbon is a Research Fellow at the School of the Environment, The University of Queensland. His research focuses on zoology and wildlife biology, with a particular emphasis on mammalian ecology, conservation biology, and urban wildlife dynamics. He holds a PhD in Integrative Biology from The University of Queensland (2005), where his thesis explored the survival of northern brown bandicoots in urban Brisbane habitat fragments.
His work spans predator-prey interactions, habitat fragmentation, and the application of technological solutions for wildlife monitoring (e.g., GPS tracking, microchip systems). Recent studies include investigations into koala behavior in disturbed urban landscapes, spatial ecology of marsupials in predator exclosures, and the development of predator avoidance training for reintroduced species.
Dr. FitzGibbon collaborates extensively on projects such as the Koala Venture Partnership and contributes to conferences on wildlife management and conservation. His research integrates field observations with technological innovation to address challenges in biodiversity conservation.
