Scott Sheridan is Professor of Geography and Interim Associate Provost at Kent State University. His research investigates climate-society interactions, particularly heat vulnerability, synoptic climatology, and coastal environmental systems.
Sheridan developed the Spatial Synoptic Classification system used globally to assess weather-health relationships. His work establishes connections between atmospheric patterns and human mortality, leading to heat-warning systems in over 50 cities worldwide. Recent projects analyze coastal sea-level anomalies and atmosphere-ocean interactions affecting water quality.
As Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Biometeorology and President of the International Society of Biometeorology, Sheridan shapes research directions in climate-health science. He has been recognized among the world's top 2% scientists consistently since 2019.
