Scott Rutherford is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Development Studies at Queen's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. He serves as co-coordinator of the Studies in National and International Development (SNID) seminar series and acting Program Coordinator in Cultural Studies. His research focuses on 20th-century Canadian history and transnational social movements, exploring grassroots movements' role in shaping social transformation. Rutherford holds a PhD in History from Queen's University, an MA from the University of Manitoba, and a BA from the University of Winnipeg.

Research Interests: Scott examines how transnational movements redefined social change in late 20th-century Canada. His work bridges Canadian history with global development, analyzing themes like decolonization, solidarity networks, and grassroots activism. Recent contributions include co-editing Canada and the Third World: Overlapping Histories (2015) and publishing in journals like Race and Class and American Indian Quarterly.
