Scott Ramsey serves as an Adjunct Professor of Medicine & Pharmacy in the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Washington School of Pharmacy and directs the Cancer Outcomes Research Program at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
His educational background includes a medical degree from the University of Iowa, a PhD in economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, internal medicine residency at the University of Washington (where he served as Chief Medical Resident), and a General Internal Medicine fellowship at the Seattle VA Medical Center.
Research focuses on Pharmacogenomics and Personalized Medicine with emphasis on health economics and cancer outcomes. Key areas include cost-effectiveness analyses of genetic screening for hereditary colon cancer, quality-of-life assessments for cancer survivors, and economic evaluations of therapies for advanced lung cancer and colorectal cancer. His work bridges clinical medicine with economic modeling, particularly in oncology and pharmacogenomics.
Dr. Ramsey leads the Cancer Outcomes Research Program at Fred Hutchinson, which investigates economic and quality-of-life impacts of cancer screening and treatments, and has advised the United States Senate Budget Committee as Health Analyst.
