Scott Lowrance

Dr. Scott Lowrance is an Associate Professor of Practice and Associate Director of the Weitzman Institute for Real Estate at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), where he has served since July 2023. Previously, he held roles at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), including leading the Masters of Real Estate (MSRE) program as Graduate Advisor and recruiter in the College of Business (November 2004–May 2005). He holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University (2002), an MBA in International Finance from UTA (1997), and a BBA in Finance from UTA (1995). His research focuses on real estate economics, financial decisions, commercial mortgage markets, and valuation methods.

Dr. Lowrance has extensive industry experience, including roles as Director of Investments at public and private Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs), overseeing bulk residential acquisitions and Build-to-Rent initiatives valued at over $1 billion annually. He also specializes in asset management, portfolio valuation for private equity, and real estate tax consulting in Texas. He is licensed for real estate and property tax consulting in Texas.

Award recognition includes the 2005 Award for Contributions to The School of Nursing graduate Programs. He is affiliated with professional organizations such as the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, American Real Estate Society, and the Institute of Real Estate Management.
