J. Andrew Hansz is a Professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate at the College of Business, The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), where he holds the Gould/Mayfield Professorship. He has previously held the Robert M. Stanton Chair at Old Dominion University and served as a Visiting Professor at The Pennsylvania State University. His academic career spans over two decades with leadership roles including founding director of the Gazarian Real Estate Center at California State University, Fresno.

Dr. Hansz’s research focuses on real estate valuation, expert decision-making behavior, and REITs. His work explores how valuation experts form judgments and the financial impacts of green retrofits, distressed sales, and zoning policies. He has published extensively in leading journals such as Real Estate Economics, Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics, and Urban Studies.
His recent publications (2020–2024) show a strong trend in real estate investment analysis, market efficiency, and sustainability in housing. Topics include the impact of green retrofits, cash financing on housing prices, and economic policy uncertainty on REITs, indicating a continued focus on behavioral and macroeconomic influences in real estate markets.
