Scott L. McLean is Professor of Political Science and Faculty Director of the Honors Program at Quinnipiac University. He holds a PhD in political theory from Rutgers University and has served Quinnipiac since 1995, progressing from Assistant Professor to full Professor. His research focuses on national elections, public opinion, political psychology, and civic education, with frequent media appearances in outlets like The New York Times, Washington Post, and CNN.

McLean's recent work analyzes swing state dynamics, generational political behavior, and policy innovation. He co-authored the book Social Capital: Critical Perspectives on Community (NYU Press, 2002) and serves as President of the New England Political Science Association. His civic engagement extends to grassroots food insecurity advocacy in New Haven, including former leadership at Downtown Evening Soup Kitchen, Inc. (DESCT).
