
Scott Furguson

Scott Furguson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Humanities & Cultural Studies at the University of South Florida, where he also co-directs the Film & New Media Studies Track. He holds a Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Film Studies from UC Berkeley. His research and teaching focus on aesthetic theory, the history of digital animation, visual effects in Hollywood blockbusters, and intersections between Modern Monetary Theory and cultural critique. He is affiliated with the Binzagr Institute for Sustainable Prosperity as a Research Scholar and directs the Humanities Division of the Modern Money Network.
His pedagogy includes courses on moving image aesthetics, global film history, media theory, and autobiographical essays across literary, photographic, and digital media. Ferguson has published in venues such as Screen, boundary 2, and Qui Parle, and his upcoming book Declarations of Dependence: Money, Aesthetics, and the Politics of Care will be published by University of Nebraska Press.
