Scott Epstein, M.D., is a Professor of Medicine and Medical Director of the Physician Assistant Program at the Tufts University School of Medicine, Public Health and Community Medicine Department. His roles include academic leadership and curriculum development in medical education, alongside clinical expertise in critical care and mechanical ventilation. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (Tufts University, 1984) and a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University (1980).
Dr. Epstein's research focuses on critical care practices, particularly mechanical ventilation weaning and discontinuation, as well as medical education innovations. He has contributed to international clinical practice guidelines and led studies on analgesia-first sedation and ICU clinician practices. His work emphasizes improving patient outcomes through evidence-based protocols and interdisciplinary training.
