Scott Burkhardt is a Lecturer in Cinema & Media Studies at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts & Sciences. He graduated from Columbia University’s School of the Arts as a Dean's Scholar and has received grants from prestigious institutions including New Line Cinema, the Milos Forman Foundation, and the Carole and Robert Daly Foundation.
- His thesis film The Assistant won multiple awards and aired on PBS and Hulu for five years.
- His short film Girls Are Strong Here won the 2021 Grand Jury Prize at IFF Boston and the 2022 Humanitas Prize.
- He has written for NBC’s Smash and developed shows for NBC Universal and CBS Studios.
Research Interests: Scott specializes in screenwriting, television production, and short film creation, integrating practical filmmaking with pedagogical approaches to media studies.
