Scott Bremer is a Researcher and Assistant Professor affiliated with the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Bergen and the NORCE Climate research center. He also holds an assistant professorship at the University of Toronto Scarborough, focusing on the intersection of science, policy, and governance.
His research explores the use of science and tacit knowledge in climate adaptation, particularly through transdisciplinary co-production and post-normal science. Key projects include the CALENDARS initiative, which investigates how communities revise seasonal frameworks, and the CONFER project, developing climate services for East Africa. He emphasizes local, traditional, and practical knowledge, aiming to make research accessible to collaborating communities.
Recent publications analyze seasonal cultural shifts, beekeeping adaptation, and coastal hazardscapes. He supervises five PhD and two master's students and contributes to curriculum development in transdisciplinary research across Europe and Africa. His work bridges climate science, ethics, and policy, with a focus on actionable knowledge for societal challenges.
