Scott Bakal

Scott Bakal is a Professor of Illustration at the Massachusetts College of Art & Design in Boston. He holds an MFA from the University of Hartford, an MA from Syracuse University, and a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, NYC. Bakal’s career spans over 25 years with clients including Rolling Stone, The New York Times, and Smithsonian Magazine. His work blends traditional and digital media, focusing on conceptual narrative and social themes. Notable recognitions include 3X3 Awards, American Illustration, and Luerzer’s 200 Best Illustrators. He also serves on the ICON10 Conference board and contributes to projects like the U.S. Air Force Art Program. Bakal’s teaching emphasizes staying current through student collaboration and community engagement.
