Scott Andrew

Dr. Scott Andrew is a Lecturer in Biochemistry at the School of Dentistry and Medical Sciences, Charles Sturt University (Orange campus). He holds a BSc from the University of Sydney and a PhD (2002) from the Department of Medicine at the same institution. His academic journey includes postdoctoral research at the Kolling Institute of Medical Research (Sydney University), Queens University (Canada), and Westmead Children's Hospital Oncology Research Unit.

Research Focus: Dr. Andrew leads cancer biology research focusing on:

• Developing improved chemotherapy drugs targeting metastatic cancers
• Mechanisms of metal chelators (especially thiosemicarbazones) in selective cancer cytotoxicity
• RET proto-oncogene signaling in thyroid cancer
• SRC kinase pathways in Duchenne muscular dystrophy
• Toxicology of Hypochaeris radicata in equine stringhalt disease

His work combines molecular biology techniques with translational drug development approaches.

Research Publications: His 27+ publications demonstrate consistent focus on molecular oncology mechanisms since 1992. Recent work (2013-present) emphasizes metal-coordinating anticancer agents and Escherichia coli pathogenesis, while earlier research centered on RET oncogene regulation.
