Scott Allen is an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Criminal Justice and Sociology at Curry College, where he began teaching in spring 2021. With a 25-plus year career in law enforcement, he retired as Chief of Police of the East Bridgewater Police Department in March 2020 to focus on community advocacy in substance use disorders and behavioral health.
His academic background includes a B.S. in Physical Education with Teacher Certification from Plymouth State University (1993) and an M.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from Western New England University (1998). His work spans roles as a corrections officer, Patrol Officer, Detective, and Major Crimes Task Force Commanding Officer, culminating in his leadership as Chief of Police.

Mr. Allen co-created the Plymouth County Outreach initiative, recognized by the Bureau of Justice Administration (BJA) as a national mentor site for community health collaboration. He has presented at the White House, U.S. Capitol, and national conferences on pre-arrest diversion and deflection strategies.
He also served as an instructor for the Massachusetts Police Training Committee, training recruits and veteran officers. Beyond academia, he volunteers with community organizations like the East Bridgewater Community Drug Council and EB HOPE, while coaching youth sports for over 15 years.
