Scott A. Jones is a Professor of Music, Associate Director of Bands, and Area Head of Conducting and Ensembles at The Ohio State University. He leads the Symphonic Band and directs the Lawrence and Isabel Barnett Center for Integrated Arts and Enterprise. His roles include shaping the undergraduate conducting curriculum and founding the Youth Summer Music Programs, which connected thousands of students with the university. Jones holds a PhD from the University of Minnesota, MM from Vander Cook College of Music, and BME from The Ohio State University.
His research focuses on collaborative rehearsal pedagogy, interdisciplinary partnerships (e.g., with visual artists, composers, and digital media), and rhythm pedagogy. Notable projects include a 2019 performance of there are no words honoring Emanuel AME Church victims and over 40 commissioned compositions for wind bands. He has collaborated with renowned figures like Libby Larsen, Seiji Ozawa, and the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.
