Scot Bateman

Scot Bateman, MD is a Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and serves as Division Chief of Pediatric Critical Care at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center. He completed his medical degree at Dartmouth Medical School, followed by a pediatric residency and pediatric critical care fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. He holds advanced certifications in general pediatrics, pediatric critical care, and palliative care medicine, and earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Investigation from Boston University School of Medicine.

Research Interests: Dr. Bateman focuses on ethical challenges in end-of-life care within intensive care units (ICUs). His work bridges pediatric critical care, bioethics, and palliative medicine, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to complex ethical dilemmas in clinical settings.

Clinical Leadership: As Division Chief, he oversees pediatric critical care services at UMass Memorial Children’s Medical Center, integrating clinical expertise with ethical frameworks to improve patient care outcomes.
