Sayori Ghoshal is a historian of modern South Asia with a focus on the intersection of science, colonialism, and postcolonial studies. She earned her PhD in 2022 from Columbia University in the City of New York and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the Institute for the History and Philosophy of Science & Technology (IHPST), University of Toronto, and Krea University, India. Her research explores how statistical sciences shaped community identity formation in colonial and postcolonial India.
- Current role: Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science.
- Grants: Funded by International Network for Research in Science and Belief in Society (INSBS), University of Birmingham, UK, and Institute for Religion, Culture and Public Life (IRCPL), Columbia University.
Her recently published articles address themes such as race science, demography, and identity politics. She is co-chair of the Forum for the History of Science in Asia under the History of Science Society and actively presents her work at international conferences.
