Saurin Patel is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Ivey Business School, Western University since 2021, having joined as an Assistant Professor in 2013. He holds a PhD in Finance from McGill University (2013), alongside MA in Economics degrees from Concordia University (2007) and Maharaja Sayajirao University (2004), and a BComm from the same Indian university (2002).
His research focuses on empirical asset pricing, mutual fund dynamics, and behavioral/forensic finance. Notable work examines managerial structure impacts on fund performance, deceptive trading practices, and the interplay between CSR and tax strategies. He has received awards including the 2022 Hillsdale Investment Management Research Award and a 2010 Excellence in Teaching Award for his McGill coursework on Investments and Portfolio Management.
His recent publications analyze credit markets' response to disclosure tone (2023), green fund performance (2023), and team management benefits in mutual funds (2021/2017). He has secured grants from the Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) including a 2014 grant examining organizational structure impacts ($280K) and a 2018 award on gender diversity benefits ($82.9K).
