Saumya Lal is Assistant Professor of English at Louisiana State University's College of Humanities & Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and researches global Anglophone literatures through postcolonial and affect theory frameworks. Her current book project examines empathy dynamics in literary representations of political conflicts across postcolonial Africa and South Asia.
Her scholarly work investigates how literature mediates trauma and facilitates cross-cultural understanding in conflict zones, with publications in journals including The Journal of Commonwealth Literature and Textual Practice.
