Saulius Gerulis

Saulius Gerulis is the Dean of the Music Academy at Vytautas Magnus University. As an Associate Professor, he holds dual roles in academic leadership and pedagogical specialization. His primary affiliations include the VMU Music Academy (since 2011) and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, where he serves in the departments of Piano and Pedagogy. Gerulis has held significant administrative roles, including Dean of the Kaunas Faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (2006–2011 transition period).

Education highlights include a PhD in Humanities from the Music Academy of Lithuania (1998) and a piano specialization under Prof. Jurgis Karnavičius. He has supervised numerous master's and PhD theses, while maintaining active involvement in music competitions, pedagogical councils, and editorial boards.

Research focuses on music interpretation, pedagogy, and interdisciplinary studies between music and theatre. His works explore performance practices, historical context, and expressive techniques. Gerulis contributes to academic governance through roles in assessment commissions, organizational committees, and the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre's Collegium.

Publications include the seminal work Nuo Muzikos Link Žodžio (2009), analyzing interpretative challenges, and multiple conference contributions since 1992. He balances administrative duties with teaching responsibilities across bachelor's, master's, and doctoral programs.
