معرفی
Saul Perlmutter is a professor of physics at the University of California, Berkeley, and head of the International Supernova Cosmology Project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. He is renowned for his work on the accelerating expansion of the universe and dark energy, which earned him the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics.
- Education: AB in Physics from Harvard University, PhD in Physics from UC Berkeley
Perlmutter's research focuses on using Type Ia supernovae to measure cosmic expansion and dark energy. His team's observations provided critical evidence for the universe's accelerating expansion, revolutionizing cosmology.
His publications span astrophysics and cosmology, emphasizing supernovae, dark energy, and high-redshift surveys. Awards include the Shaw Prize (2006), Gruber Cosmology Prize (2007), Albert Einstein Medal (2011), and the Breakthrough Prize (2015). Perlmutter also contributes to climate science via the Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature project.
