Saul M. Rodriguez

Saul M. Rodriguez is a Part-Time Professor at the School of Political Studies at the University of Ottawa. He is also the editorial advisor and founder of Magcondo Magazine, as well as its former editor-in-chief. With a PhD in Political Science from the University of Ottawa, he has established himself as a prominent scholar in comparative politics, security studies, and Latin American politics.

He has made significant contributions to understanding security studies, particularly in the context of Colombia's peace process and post-conflict challenges. His scholarship also addresses the intersection of climate change, inequality, and security, as well as emerging issues in cybersecurity and digital governance. Rodriguez publishes extensively in both English and Spanish, with notable works including "La influencia de los Estados Unidos en el Ejército colombiano" (2006) and "De milicias reales a militares contrainsurgentes" (2008, co-authored with César Torres).

His recent publications demonstrate a growing focus on civilian militarism as an emerging illiberal governance model, with implications for democracies worldwide. Rodriguez has also contributed chapters to prestigious publications including "The Routledge Companion to Global Cyber-Security Strategy" and "Counterterrorism and Civil Society" (Manchester University Press).
