معرفی
Satoshi Inaba is a Professor at the School of International Liberal Studies, Faculty of International Research and Education at Waseda University. He holds a Doctor of Science degree from Tokyo Institute of Technology, where he completed his studies in Science of Engineering in 1999. His academic career includes postdoctoral research at the Carnegie Institution and as a Japan Society for the Promotion of Science Special Researcher.
Dr. Inaba's research spans two major areas:
- Planetary Science and Astrophysics: Focusing on planet formation processes, protoplanetary disk evolution, and exoplanet orbital dynamics
- Hydrothermal Chemistry and Astrobiology: Investigating organic molecule formation in hydrothermal environments through quantum chemical calculations
His work on planetary formation has explored mechanisms such as Type I migration in accretion disks, dusty vortices in protoplanetary disks, and the role of gas giant planets in terrestrial planet formation. In hydrothermal chemistry, he has conducted extensive research on methanol formation and transformation under hydrothermal conditions, formaldehyde production pathways, and peptide formation mechanisms on mineral surfaces.
Dr. Inaba has secured multiple research grants from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, including projects on "Evolution of Protoplanetary disks and Formation of Gas Giant Planets" (2007-2009) and "The Role of Gas Giant Planets in the Formation Process of Terrestrial Planets and Asteroids" (2002-2004). More recently, he has led internal research projects at Waseda University on quantum chemical calculations related to peptide formation on asteroid surfaces and oxidation-reduction reactions in hydrothermal vents (2016-2024).
His research has been widely cited, with Scopus showing 878 citations and Google Scholar showing 1,265 citations, reflecting his significant contributions to both planetary science and astrochemistry.
Dr. Inaba is an active member of the Japanese Society for Planetary Science and has published extensively in high-impact journals including Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, and Icarus.
At Waseda University, he teaches a variety of courses including Classical Physics, Introduction to Astronomy, Modern Physics, and seminars on Matter and Information, demonstrating his commitment to interdisciplinary education.
