Satoko Kato

Satoko Kato is a lecturer at Kalaidos Music Academy (part of Kalaidos University of Applied Sciences) specializing in accompaniment with a focus on singing. She has performed internationally as an accompanist/accompanist, collaborating with renowned singers and institutions across Japan, Europe, and Turkey.

• Education: Master of Advanced Studies in Music Practice (Lied Interpretation) from Zurich University of the Arts (2011); Post-graduate Certificate in Piano from Conservatory of Amsterdam (2002); Bachelor in Piano from Osaka College of Music (2000).

Her research and practice center on Classical Music, Piano Accompaniment, and Vocal Interpretation. She has coached at institutions like Wil Music Theatre and Sirnach Operetta, and her work includes interdisciplinary projects such as the JS Bach House performance integrating piano and architectural projections.

She has received recognition such as the Prize for Contemporary Music at the Concours international de Chant-Piano Nadia et Lili Boulanger in Paris (as a duo partner). Her recordings, including Franz Schubert Songs and Folksong Arrangements with tenor Raphaël Favre, have been critically acclaimed in Swiss Music Newspaper and Recording Art (Japan).

Kato maintains active roles as Artistic Director of SARU music (since 2019), accompanist for Bach Ensemble Zurich (since 2011), and piano instructor at Cantonal Matura School for Adults Zurich (since 2008). She has collaborated with institutions like Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) since 2004 and participated in international festivals and competitions.
