Saskia Noor van Imhoff (b. 1982 in Mission, CA) serves as a guest teacher for the Master Artistic Research program at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague (KABK), part of the University of the Arts The Hague. An active artist based in Amsterdam and Mirns (NL), her work interrogates the artificial systems governing human existence—examining how rules, classifications, and knowledge structures allocate value across dimensions like space (here/there), time (then/now), and nature (human/animal, commodity/waste).
Her research centers on systems theory and knowledge classification, critically analyzing man-made frameworks that order society. Recent work pivots to land stewardship through a rural farmland acquisition in northern Netherlands, conceptualized as an 'organic collection'—a living archive where rehabilitation efforts inform sculptural installations exploring archaeology, perception, and humanity's ecological responsibility. This project frames land as both historical repository and pedagogical resource.
Van Imhoff's accolades include:
- 2017 Prix de Rome (NL)
- 2017 ABN Amro ArtPrize (NL)
- 2012 Walter Tielmann Prize for Book Design (DE)
- 2008 Gerrit Rietveld Academie Prize (NL)
Her exhibitions span global institutions including Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), Stedelijk Museum (Amsterdam), and Moscow Biennial (RU). Though mentoring occurs through KABK's Master Artistic Research program, specific advisees remain undocumented. The Mirns farmland functions as her primary research site, merging ecological practice with artistic inquiry into classification systems.
