معرفی
Saskia Freytag is a Researcher at the UWA Centre for Medical Research (affiliated with the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research) and UWA Medical School, The University of Western Australia. Her work focuses on epigenetic mechanisms, gene regulatory dynamics, and translational medical research. She contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and innovation.
Research interests include CRISPR-based epigenome editing, neurodevelopmental processes, and cancer biology. She has pioneered modular dCas9 platforms for epigenetic manipulation and analyzed single-cell gene regulatory networks in human prefrontal cortex development. Her work on glioblastoma signaling pathways has advanced targeted therapy approaches, while her clinical studies on blue light therapy address hereditary vascular disorders.
- Key projects:
- "Harnessing single cell technology to understand abnormal human cortical development" (WA Health Dept., 2022-2022)
- "Using Single-Cell Omics to Determine Disease Mechanisms in Childhood Epilepsy" (NHMRC, 2020-2020)
- Publications: 9 peer-reviewed articles, including high-impact contributions to Cell and Nucleic Acids Research
Her datasets include gene expression profiles from single-cell studies (GEO: GSE168408, GSE241460). Collaborations span institutions globally, with particular focus on epigenetic engineering and clinical translation of molecular findings.
