Sasha Hanrahan

Sasha Hanrahan is a Teaching Assistant Professor of Psychology at Oklahoma State University (OSU), specializing in Speech Communication. With over 25 years of teaching experience, she currently serves as the Speech Communication Course Coordinator. In 2024, she was honored with the OSU Online Teaching Excellence Award. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction (2018–2023), an MA in Speech Communication (1999–2001), and a BA in Speech Communication (1995–1999), all from OSU and Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

Her research focuses on pedagogical innovation, anti-racism in communication, and open educational resources (OER). She integrates critical whiteness studies into curriculum design and emphasizes inclusive teaching strategies. Key interests include student engagement, cross-disciplinary communication assessment, and fostering intercultural awareness.

In her scholarly work, Hanrahan has explored historical trauma (e.g., the Tulsa Race Massacre via critical race theory) and post-pandemic educational challenges. Her publications span textbooks, conference presentations, and leadership in OER adoption initiatives.

Awarded the Helen M. Jones Endowed Scholarship (2020) and Excellence in Education (2013), she actively contributes to institutional equity efforts through roles like Secretary of the OSU Faculty Council for Gender Equity and Chair of the Speech Advisory Committee. She is certified in leadership development programs like Lead 4 Success and advocates for diversity, equity, and inclusion (IDEA) through professional development activities.
