Dr. Sascha Priewe is an Associate Professor in the Department of the History of Art at the University of Toronto and Adjunct Associate Professor in Cultural Studies at Queen’s University. He serves as Director of Collections & Public Programs at the Aga Khan Museum, overseeing curatorial, educational, and strategic initiatives. A Senior Fellow of Massey College and former Research Fellow at the USC Center on Public Diplomacy, he co-founded the North American Cultural Diplomacy Initiative (NACDI) and leads ICOM Canada as President.
He earned a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Oxford and focuses on museum diplomacy, diaspora diplomacy, and post-pandemic global engagement of cultural institutions. His work includes two books on museum diplomacy and collaborations with Sarah E.K. Smith on diaspora-related projects.
Scientific awards include:
- Senior Fellow of Massey College
- Research Fellow at USC Center on Public Diplomacy (2019–2021)
Prior leadership roles include board service at the Ontario Museum Association and chairing the Global Leadership Council of the Idaho Museum of International Diaspora. His work intersects cultural institutions with global politics, emphasizing coalitions of shared values in Canadian cultural diplomacy.
