Dr. Sarmad Sadeghi is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California (USC). He specializes in the clinical and research aspects of genitourinary malignancies, particularly bladder, kidney, and prostate cancers. His academic career includes roles as a Principal Investigator for multicenter clinical trials and active participation in cooperative groups like SWOG and the California Cancer Consortium. Dr. Sadeghi’s work focuses on advancing treatments through targeted therapies, immunotherapy, and surgical outcomes research.
Dr. Sadeghi holds an MD from Tehran University of Medical Sciences, an MS in Health Information Sciences, and a PhD in Public Health Management from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston. He completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Texas Medical School and the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, followed by a hematology/oncology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute.
His research interests span clinical trial design, comparative effectiveness analyses, and molecular targets in cancer therapy. Notable areas include ephrin signaling pathways in prostate and kidney cancers, immune checkpoint inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma, and optimizing surgical practices for improved oncological outcomes.
Dr. Sadeghi’s publications reflect a strong emphasis on translational research, with contributions to journals like J Clin Oncol, Br J Cancer, and Clin Genitourin Cancer. His work addresses gaps in care for cisplatin-ineligible patients, the impact of facility caseload on surgical outcomes, and pandemic-era cancer therapy optimization.
He currently practices at Keck Hospital of USC and USC Norris Cancer Hospital, offering medical oncology and internal medicine services. His clinical expertise aligns with his research, focusing on personalized approaches for genitourinary cancers.
