Dr. Sariya Cheruvallil-Contractor is Professor of the Sociology of Islam at Coventry University's Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations (CTPSR). She serves as Chair (2020-2025) of the Muslims in Britain Research Network (MBRN) and edits the Review of Social and Scientific Study of Religion. Her PhD from the University of Gloucestershire focused on 'Muslim Women in Britain: Demystifying the Muslimah'.
Her research employs feminist, pragmatist, and decolonizing methodologies to explore:
- Muslim women's experiences in Britain
- Digital religion and cyber Islamic environments
- Interfaith relations and religious education
- Identity formation among care-experienced children
- Historical narratives of marginalized communities
She leads numerous funded projects including 'Digital British Islam' (ESRC), 'Minorities on Campus in India' (AHRC GCRF), and 'Safe Spaces for Black Children' (Barnados), with cumulative funding exceeding £2.9 million.

She mentors 13 doctoral students researching topics from Algerian feminism to Islamic leadership. Her community partnerships include Peace Train Foundation, Coventry Sacred Spaces, and CoramBAAF's Black and Minority Ethnic Advisory Committee.
