Sari Valkonen is a Junior Researcher in Financial Services and a Doctoral Researcher within the Faculty of Education at the University of Lapland. She is affiliated with the Doctoral Programme: the Arctic in a Changing World. Her research focuses on education-related topics including Indigenous rights, linguistics, and teacher education, particularly in Arctic and Sámi contexts.
She actively participates in collaborative projects such as the HEI-SAMI Nordplus project (2023–2025), which emphasizes land-based teacher education, Indigenous rights, and linguistics. Her work intersects with initiatives promoting Sámi language preservation and culturally responsive educational practices.
As a Collaborative Investigator, Valkonen contributes to interdisciplinary efforts addressing structural and institutional challenges in education, particularly for Indigenous communities. Her research aligns with the university’s focus on Arctic and Northern studies, reflecting her commitment to socially just and culturally inclusive education systems.
