Dr. Sari Budisulistiorini is a Research Fellow in the Department of Chemistry at the University of York, UK. Her research focuses on organic aerosol formation and transformation in urban environments, with particular emphasis on biomass burning emissions, airborne microplastics, and indoor-outdoor air quality interactions. She employs advanced analytical techniques such as aerosol mass spectrometry and numerical models like PMF and E-AIM to study aerosol sources and their environmental impacts.
Education: PhD in Environmental Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2015), and a Master’s degree from the University of Melbourne (2008).
Research interests include the chemical characterization of organic aerosols using real-time and offline instruments, including ACSM, CIMS, and Orbitrap LC-MS. Her work addresses the role of anthropogenic and biogenic emissions in aerosol formation, with applications to climate and health. Key projects include analyses of Indonesian peatland fires and the INGENIOUS initiative on household air pollution.
Recent studies explore the neutralization of acidic particles by wildfire emissions, biogenic SOA in Delhi, and the impact of isoprene chemistry on aerosol properties. Collaborations span global institutions, focusing on tropical and urban atmospheric systems.
