Sari Autio-Sarasmo is a Senior Lecturer at the Aleksanteri Institute - Finnish Centre for Russian and East European Studies within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Helsinki. She serves as Deputy Director of the Aleksanteri Institute and acts as supervisor in the Doctoral Programme in Political, Societal and Regional Change.
- Research Focus: Cold War economic history, East-West technological transfer, Soviet modernization strategies, environmental history, and Nordic-Soviet interactions
- Key Projects: DigiREES, Finnish-Russian Network on Area studies and Methodologies (FRAME), and Building virtual exchange capacities in the Baltic Sea Region
- Academic Networks: Member of Finnish Historical Society, advisory board of Slavonic Library, editorial council of Baltic Worlds, and reviewer for multiple journals
Her recent publications examine Soviet technological adaptation, Cold War neutrality models, and post-Soviet continuities. She has organized numerous international conferences including the Aleksanteri Conference and contributed to media analysis of Cold War historical narratives.
