Saraswati Noel

Saraswati Noel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Multilingual Education at Western Washington University. She is stationed at the Renton - PSESD office and available by appointment. Her work focuses on supporting multilingual learners in mathematics education, particularly for recent immigrants and refugees in U.S. schools.

Research Interests: Dr. Noel employs Critical Race Theory and Intersectionality frameworks to examine how multilingual learners of color navigate low-track mathematics courses. Her work emphasizes discourse analysis to uncover systemic barriers faced by marginalized students in STEM education.

Professional Engagement: She advises prospective students on programs such as the Bilingual/ELL endorsement, Future Bilingual Teaching Fellows Program, and the Master in Teaching with a Multilingual Education emphasis. Her prior experience includes teaching middle and high school mathematics in schools serving immigrant and refugee communities.
