Dr. Sarahanne Field is an Assistant Professor at the University of Groningen, affiliated with the Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences and the Department of Pedagogy. She holds a Research Master in Statistics and Psychometrics (Rijksuniversiteit Groningen, 2017) and a Bachelor of Psychology (The University of Newcastle, 2014). Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education).
Research Focus: Field specializes in metascience, science reform, and open science practices. She explores ethical research practices, replication crises, and improving academic publishing systems. Her methodologies include both qualitative and quantitative approaches, with a focus on Bayesian statistics and responsible research innovation (RRI).
Publications & Impact: Over 15 peer-reviewed articles (2020–2025) address replication decisions, publishing incentives, theory development, and responsible research systems. Recent work critiques systemic biases in academia and proposes reforms for transparent, ethical science.
Roles: Editor-in-chief of the Journal of Trial and Error, associate editor at Collabra: Psychology, and recommender at PCI-RR. Co-hosts the The Open Update podcast, promoting open science discourse.
Affiliations: Involved with the Netherlands Reproducibility Network and collaborates internationally on science reform initiatives. Member of the Computational Brain and Behavior editorial board.
