Sarah Strachan

Sarah Strachan is a Senior Lecturer Practitioner at Anglia Ruskin University's Global Sustainability Institute within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Based in Cambridge, UK, she works at the intersection of contemporary art, education, health, and sustainability.

Sarah is an award-winning artist and marketing professional (DipM, MCIM, Chartered Marketer) with over 20 years' business and management experience in both public and commercial healthcare sectors. She returned to higher education in 2017 to study Fine Art, which reignited her interest in ecology and sustainability education.

Her research focuses on how our perception of being in, knowing and belonging to the world affects our ecological awareness and thinking. She has been working with stakeholders to understand skills needs and pedagogical approaches to bridging the green skills gap. Her transdisciplinary approach integrates contemporary art, education, health, and sustainability.

Dr. Strachan's recent work has explored:

• Pedagogical approaches to the green skills gap
• Conversational drift in art practice
• Collaborative pedagogic research between postgraduate programs
• Going green post-COVID-19 from employer perspectives

She has worked on consultancy projects on green skills with various organizations including Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Local Resilience Forum, Essex County Council, and Business in the Community.
