Sarah Spooner is Associate Professor in Landscape History & Engagement at the School of History and Art History, University of East Anglia. She is a core member of the Landscape History research group and actively contributes to teaching, research, and public engagement in landscape studies.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on the rural and suburban landscape of England from the post-medieval period to the present, with special emphasis on the architecture and setting of country houses, long-term estate development, and the evolution of suburban areas. She integrates Geographic Information Systems (GIS) into historical research, enhancing spatial analysis of landscape change.
Her recent research outputs reveal a consistent focus on movement heritage, rights of way, cultural mapping, and community engagement with local landscapes. Projects like Pathways to History and Preserving Place illustrate her commitment to collaborative, interdisciplinary research that bridges academia and public history.
