Sarah Sobalvarro

Sarah Sobalvarro serves as a Research Associate at the Center for Global Security Research, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL), focusing on nuclear security and nonproliferation while concurrently pursuing a Master's degree in Security Studies at Georgetown University's Walsh School of Foreign Service.

Her research centers on tracking Generation IV and dual-use nuclear technology transfers to the Global South, with specialized expertise in security risks arising from state-led commercial nuclear export programs to non-nuclear nations. This work, presented at RUSI’s UK Project on Nuclear Issues 2024 Annual Conference, examines proliferation vulnerabilities in emerging nuclear markets.

She operates within LLNL's Center for Global Security Research framework, leveraging national laboratory resources for policy-relevant analysis. Prior experiential learning includes internships at the Wilson Center and the US Department of State's Bureau of International Security and Nonproliferation, where she conducted open-source intelligence gathering on foreign nuclear technology development programs.
