Sarah Slavoff is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Molecular Biophysics & Biochemistry at Yale University, primarily affiliated with the Yale School of Medicine. She holds secondary appointments in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry and is associated with multiple interdisciplinary centers, including the Center for RNA Science and Medicine and the Institute of Biomolecular Design and Discovery. Her research focuses on understanding the roles of small and alternative open reading frame-encoded polypeptides (SEPs/microproteins) in cellular processes such as RNA metabolism, ribosome assembly, and stress responses. She pioneered techniques like MicroID and chemoproteomics to profile unannotated microproteins and their subcellular localizations.
Her work bridges proteomics, biochemistry, and chemical biology, with notable contributions to understanding how microproteins regulate biomolecular condensates, RNA decapping mechanisms, and cellular signaling pathways.
