Dr. Sarah Sadavoy is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics and Astronomy at Queen's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science. She holds a PhD from the University of Victoria (2013) and was a Hubble Postdoctoral Fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics. Her research focuses on star and planet formation, including the physics of star-forming regions, mass accretion in young stars, and the evolution of planet-forming disks. She co-leads the Queen's Star Formation Group (QStar) with Prof. Laura Fissel.
- Education:
- PhD in Astronomy, University of Victoria (2013)
- M.Sc. in Astronomy, University of Victoria (2009)
- B.Sc. (Honours) in Physics and Astronomy, York University (2007)
Her research group processes telescope data to model star formation processes, with a focus on observational studies of molecular clouds and protostars. They use facilities like the James Clerk Maxwell Telescope (JCMT) and collaborate internationally. Current supervision includes postdoctoral fellow Michael Chen.
Affiliations include the Hubble Fellowship program and the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian. She is based in Kingston, Canada, and maintains an active research lab focusing on interdisciplinary astrophysics.
