Sarah Robertson is a Research Fellow at RMIT University's School of PCPM, concurrently serving as Deputy Associate Director of the Regenerative Environments and Climate Action Theme and Teacher in the Research Training Unit. Her work bridges urban sustainability, human-environment relations, and equitable housing transitions. She has collaborated with governments, NGOs, and industry, and previously edited Sanctuary: Modern Green Homes Magazine.
Her research focuses on sustainable housing, climate adaptation, and the intersection of human and urban natures. Key themes include energy vulnerability in housing, retrofit policies, and the ethical dimensions of urban development. Sarah’s qualitative methods emphasize participatory and innovative approaches to studying place-making, temporalities of climate change, and environmental justice.
Recent projects address heatwave preparedness and socio-spatial disparities in retrofit subsidies. She supervises research on abandoned urban spaces and engages in initiatives like Future Earth Australia. Her work aligns with UN SDGs 11 (Sustainable Cities), 13 (Climate Action), and 10 (Reduced Inequalities).
