Sarah Rau-Patschke

Dr. Sarah Rau-Patschke is an Associate Professor of Chemistry Didactics in the field of General Education at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Previously, she held a Junior Professorship in General Education Didactics (2021–2022) at the University of Hildesheim and served as a Post-Doc Research Associate at the University of Duisburg-Essen. Her research focuses on teacher professionalization, language education in general education, transitions from primary to secondary education, and inclusive science education.

Education: She earned her Dr. rer. nat. (2017) and completed studies in German as a Second Language and Inter-cultural Pedagogy (2014) at the University of Duisburg-Essen. She holds teaching qualifications for primary and secondary schools.

Research Interests: Professionalization of prospective teachers, language development in general education, curricular transitions between primary and secondary schools, and inclusive science education strategies. She has led projects on substitute teacher support and pedagogical practices for heterogeneous classrooms.

Awards: First Prize (2019) and Second Prize (2020) at the GDSU Conference for poster presentations on educational transition strategies and teacher competency development.

Teaching: She teaches seminars on general education didactics, supervises bachelor's and master's theses, and coordinates preparatory courses for practical teaching. Courses include 'Seminar on Application of Didactics in General Education' and 'Analysis of General Education.'
