Sarah Preston

Dr. Sarah Preston serves as a Lecturer and researching academic within the Science discipline at Federation University Australia's Institute of Innovation, Science and Sustainability.

Her educational background includes a B. Sci (Honours) and PhD in Immunology and Parasitology from Monash University. Research focuses on critical parasitology challenges:

• Anthelmintic resistance in small ruminants
• PPID (Pituitary pars intermedia dysfunction) and parasite burden in equines
• Symbiotic bacteria interactions in parasitic worms for novel control strategies

She teaches Immunology, Animal Health, and Biology while actively supervising a PhD student on equine PPID research and recruiting Honours/third-year students for ongoing projects. Dr. Preston is a member of the Australian Society for Parasitology and contributes to the Biological Sciences Research Group.

Her work addresses urgent livestock industry constraints through field surveys of Victorian sheep producers and mechanistic studies of immune dysfunction in aged equines.
