Sarah Porter is the Director of the Intensive English Language Program (IELP) and Testing Services at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). She holds an Instructor position in the School of Education and has over 15 years of experience in adult education, ESL, and curriculum development. Her roles include program leadership, instructional design, and community-focused language education initiatives.
Education:
- Ed.D. in Adult and Lifelong Learning, University of Arkansas (in progress/ABD)
- M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction/Teaching English for Speakers of Other Languages, University of Missouri
- B.S. in Spanish with a minor in Music (Piano and Oboe), University of Central Missouri
Research & Interests: Sarah’s work focuses on adult learning strategies, ESL program efficacy, and inclusive educational practices. She emphasizes bridging academic theory with community needs, particularly for multilingual learners and adult education pathways.
Publications & Presentations: Her 2017 article explores self-directed learning’s impact on adult learners. She has presented widely on topics like ESL curriculum design, Common Core standards for ELLs, and innovative teaching methods at conferences such as EnglishUSA and Missouri Association for Adult Continuing and Community Education.
