Sarah Pinto is a Senior Lecturer in History at Deakin University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Deakin.
Research focus: Pinto specializes in memory studies, public history, history of emotions, and place/space studies. Her award-winning monograph 'Places of Reconciliation' examines Indigenous commemoration in Melbourne.
Current projects: She leads research on pandemic grief/mourning in Australia and interdisciplinary studies of temporal experiences during COVID-19.
Teaching: Coordinates units on global disasters and introduction to university studies, with teaching awards recognizing her innovative pedagogy.
Recognition: Received the 2021 Victorian Community History Award and multiple teaching excellence awards.
Research leadership: Co-edited 'Interdisciplinary Unsettlings of Place and Space' and leads projects on social impacts of war in regional communities.
