Dr. Sarah Perret is a Researcher at King’s College London’s Department of War Studies, affiliated with the School of Security Studies. She contributes to the European Research Council’s SECURITY FLOWS project examining datafication in border security. Her work bridges International Political Sociology, Critical Security Studies, and Science & Technology Studies. Previously, she held postdoctoral positions at École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris and taught at institutions including Sciences Po and Georgetown University. She also served as parliamentary advisor at the French National Assembly and consulted for the World Bank in West Africa.
Her research focuses on security policy-making, digital border technologies, and the geopolitics of risk. Key areas include securitization of migration, technology’s role in EU border management, and non-knowledge effects in governance. She co-authored Géopolitique du risque (2022) and published in journals like Big Data and Society and Review of International Studies.
Perret is affiliated with ENS’s Chair in Geopolitics of Risk and LabToP-CRESPPA/CNRS, and co-founded the OCTAV terrorism studies network. Her work integrates interdisciplinary approaches to analyze how legislative changes, technological systems, and epistemic practices shape security paradigms.
