Sarah Peitzmeier is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Nursing and Department of Health Behavior and Health Equity. As a mixed-methods social epidemiologist, her research focuses on gender-based violence and sexual health disparities in marginalized populations including LGBTQ communities and sex workers.

- MSPH in Public Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School (2012)
- BS/BA in Biology and Psychology, University of Maryland (2010)
Her NIH-funded work addresses intimate partner violence (IPV) in transgender populations through tool development for healthcare screening, and she's pioneering campus-based interventions to reduce sexual assault against cisgender women and transgender undergraduates. She leads community-engaged research on chest binding health impacts and violence-related drivers of HIV/HPV transmission.
Recent publications demonstrate methodological diversity spanning:
- Transphobia-driven IPV measurement
- Transmasculine cervical cancer screening
- Gender-affirming body modification safety
- STI/HIV risk assessment tools
- Economic vulnerability interventions
- Pandemic-era violence dynamics
Peitzmeier's research bridges clinical epidemiology and policy analysis, with particular emphasis on trans-specific health interventions and trauma-informed service delivery systems.
